World Cup News : Primoz Roglic has announced that he still needs another month off the bike to heal following bone graft surgery to treat a shoulder ailment brought on by a string of incidents.
The leader of Jumbo-Visma, who had surgery on his left shoulder on October 10, said that he had a bone graft done. Wearing a brace on his shoulder, he just turned 33 and said on Instagram(opens in new tab) that he is making progress but still needs another month before he can ride again.
“Everything in rehab is on schedule. You can see that I do have some range of motion, “He mentioned this in a video, lifting his right arm slightly like this: Rogli remarked.
“I have to wait a little longer, perhaps another month or so, before I can go on the bike, but in the meanwhile, I’ve got enough to keep me occupied. We will be releasing our Foundation calendar next week. Read more at the source. I’ll be sure to update you.”
Prior to entering the hospital, Rogli was presented with the Golden Order of Merit by the President of Slovenia and participated in a ride organized by his Primoz Rogli Foundation. Cycling and young athletes both benefit from the Foundation’s work. 20,000 Euros were collected during the Golden Lap ride in Slovenia, and that money was used toward purchasing bicycles and helmets for kids.
As the season came to a close, Rogli chose to get surgery after being involved in many collisions once again.
He won the overall crowns in Paris-Nice and the Critérium du Dauphiné this year, but he dislocated his shoulder in an accident on stage 5 of the Tour de France, which took place over the Paris-Roubaix cobbles.
Despite staying in the race to cheer for Jonas Vingegaard, he dropped out before stage 15 due to agony, claiming, “Every pedal stroke sitting is like having a dagger in my back.”
He was also in position for a fourth consecutive overall triumph until crashing out of the Vuelta a Espaa. Despite Rogli’s apparent movement across the track toward the Bahrain Victorious rider, he and Jumbo-Visma blamed Fred Wright for the crash.
“Numerous dislocations are already common knowledge around here. Finally, I’ve come to a point where I must take action to correct it “Earlier, before his operation, Rogli told Slovenian reporters.
“They remove a fragment of bone from your body and reattach it to the dislocated joint. Following surgery, I will have passive range of motion in my arm once it has been immobilized for six to eight weeks. Thankfully, it’s not nearly May or June yet.”
Assuming he shows up to the Jumbo-Visma training camp in December, Rogli will likely resume his road training regimen there.
It’s gotten to the point where I need to correct these problems before I can become much stronger and start preparing for new difficulties in the next season, he added.
“That whatever they instruct me to do must be honored. Absolutely, we will prioritize getting back on the bike as soon as possible.”
