As the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup winds down in Lombok 1, the final dance is about set to begin
Lombok is set to welcome the field back to Mandalika for the last two races of the 2022 Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup season. There are now three players left in the running for the Cup: Hakim Danish, in first place with 151 points, Shinya Ezawa, in second place with 148 points, and Gun Mie, in third place overall and 35 points behind the leader but still mathematically in with a shot.
The first time the Cup came to Lombok this year, Danish took home both victories; this could give the Malaysian a lift as they prepare to enter. But Ezawa also won two bronze medals and Gun Mie placed second, so nothing is certain until it is absolutely certain, particularly because Ezawa may rely on a wealth of experience at this point. Veda Ega Pratama, a former frontrunner who missed previous races this year due to injury, will lead the Indonesian push once again.
Reykat Fadillah finished third in the first round at Mandalika, and Carter Thompson is now a race winner as well. Similarly, Rei Wakamatsu, Hamad al-Sahouti, and Amon Odaki will all want to finish the season on a positive note. There will be a lot of quick people wanting to battle it out at the front.
